Position Summary:

Performs complex professional level purchasing analysis in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. Serves as lead/project manager as assigned.

Job Requirement

Education/Experience:
Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in business or public administration, or a closely related field and three (3) years of professional purchasing/materials management experience.
Licensing/Certification Requirements:
None required.

Additional and/or Preferred Position Requirements

  • EPIC, McKesson HEMM or PMM experience

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical Requirements

Knowledge of:
Supervisory theories and principles; procurement theories and principles; medical supplies and terminology; mathematical computations; material management theories and techniques; principles and practices of contract negotiation and administration; department and hospital safety practices and procedures; patient rights; infection control policies and practices; handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials; department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures.
Skill in:
Performing professional level procurement functions effectively with regard to quality, quantity and price; managing contracts and standing purchase orders; maintaining records and files related to work performed; analyzing, interpreting and explaining complex regulations, procedures and specifications; successfully completing assignments from beginning to end; resolving problems with vendors and shipments; communicating with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds under stressful conditions; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment, stamina to remain seated and maintain concentration for extended periods of time, vision to read printed materials and a VDT screen and hearing and speech to communicate effectively in person and over the telephone. Strength and agility to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
