The Position
Social Services Program Specialists perform administrative and professional work in conjunction with the administration of statewide public assistance, medical assistance, or social services programs.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This recruitment is for a Social Services Program Specialist II with the Division of Welfare and Supportive Services (DWSS), Child Care and Development Unit (CCDP), in Carson City, NV. This position serves as the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Coordinator for the child care subsidy program. Duties include, but are not limited to; ensuring compliance with all federal and state mandates for incorporating DEI concepts; serve as a subject matter expert on DEI-related topics; project coordinator on DEI initiatives and recommendations for sub-awards or requests for proposals to reach DHHS/DWSS/CCDP goals and objectives for incorporating DEI in all programs; collaboration with DHHS/DWSS DWI and Tribal Liaison staff to resolve system challenges related to DEI and early childhood education; and ensuring the use of culturally and linguistically appropriate materials and process when designing and implementing programs/projects. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and one year of professional experience providing social services to clients or program development and evaluation which required the application of regulations, laws, policies and procedures in making determinations; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and one year of professional experience providing medical assistance programs services or healthcare services to clients or program compliance and evaluation which required the application of regulations, laws, policies and procedures in making determinations; OR one year of experience as a Social Services Program Specialist I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
