The Position

Social Services Program Specialists perform administrative and professional work in conjunction with the administration of statewide public assistance, medical assistance, or social services programs.

Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.

This recruitment is for a Social Services Program Specialist II with the Division of Welfare and Supportive Services (DWSS), Child Care and Development Program (CCDP), in Carson City, NV. This position serves as the Quality Oversight Coordinator for the child care subsidy program. Duties include, but are not limited to; providing technical assistance to stakeholders regarding program requirements to ensure compliance with the Child Care and Development Block Grant (CCDBG); actively research and maintain knowledge of current and emerging industry standards, national and state-based trends, and best practices related to high-quality early childhood education systems development, implementation, and evaluations; collaborate with leadership, program staff, early childhood education stakeholders, and other relevant partners to establish and monitor quality benchmarks; identify quality and compliance issues; implement quality improvements/corrective action plans, make recommendations to improve the quality of the early childhood system or system components. To Qualify:

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and one year of professional experience providing social services to clients or program development and evaluation which required the application of regulations, laws, policies and procedures in making determinations; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and one year of professional experience providing medical assistance programs services or healthcare services to clients or program compliance and evaluation which required the application of regulations, laws, policies and procedures in making determinations; OR one year of experience as a Social Services Program Specialist I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
