The Position
Public Service Interns receive training and complete a variety of assignments in staff activities directly relating to their major course of study while enrolled in an educational institution.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.
The Division is looking for students who seek to gain a meaningful work experience in Information Technology with an emphasis in Application Development. The intern's responsibilities will include, but are not limited to maintenance, design and creation of multiple applications in various systems used by DWSS. Programming languages include Java, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and SQL. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, curious and goal-oriented. The candidate will be introduced to many diverse technology concepts. This position will allow the intern a chance to bring fresh, exciting innovative ways to help DWSS create and maintain various applications. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or the equivalent and enrollment and continued successful performance in an academic program related to the field of employment at an accredited college or university. Special Requirements A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
