Position Summary

As an academic medical center with a rich history of providing life-saving treatment in Southern Nevada, UMC serves as the anchor hospital of the Las Vegas Medical District, offering Nevada's highest level of care to promote successful medical outcomes for patients.

We are home to Nevada's ONLY Level I Trauma Center, Designated Pediatric Trauma Center, Burn Care Center, and Transplant Center. We are a Pathway Designated facility by ANCC, and we are on our journey to Magnet status.

Position Summary:
Assists with the administration of the day-to-day operations of the human resources functions and duties.

Job Requirement

Education/Experience:
Equivalent to graduation from high school and two (2) years of general clerical experience in Human Resources or a Bachelor's Degree in business, healthcare administration, public administration, or related field.
Licensing/Certification Requirements:
None.

Additional and/or Preferred Position Requirements

PREFERENCES WILL BE GIVEN TO APPLICANTS WHO DOCUMENT THE FOLLOWING:

  • Human Resources recent experience (within the last year)
  • Healthcare human resources experience a plus
  • Front business office experience

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical Requirements

Knowledge of:
Office practices and principles; terminology and procedures related to the area of assignment; business arithmetic; policies, procedures, and regulations governing area of assignment; computer hardware and software applicable to operations; business arithmetic; correct business English, including spelling, grammar and punctuation; department and hospital safety practice and procedures; patient rights; age specific patient care practices; infection control policies and practices; handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials; department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures.
Skill in:
Applying customer service techniques; performing detailed office support duties; understanding and following oral and written instructions; inventorying and ordering supplies; creating and maintaining filing systems; using computers and related software applications; communicating with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment, vision to read printed materials and a VDT screen, and hearing and speech to communicate effectively in person and over the telephone. Strength and agility to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or an eligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this classification.
