Distinguishing Characteristics
- Parks and Recreation Specialist Band III
- Positions in this band may monitor the work of lower level staff and are responsible for program/service results. Work tasks require problem solving on a regular basis, analysis of information and/or specialized knowledge of assigned area. Incumbents may work in isolation during assigned shift and/or have oversight of multiple locations.
Work Schedule
- Less than 233 hours per quarter and may be year round or
- 233 hours or more in a quarter with a maximum of six months employment or
- Not to exceed 1,039 work hours within any fiscal year.
Essential Functions & Tasks
Include, but are not limited to:
- Operates and performs basic service of the children's train and related equipment.
- Greets customers and provides customer service.
- Interprets rules regarding code of conduct.
- Performs light groundskeeping and janitorial maintenance of the train area.
- Collects tickets from patrons, completes daily use and operation reports.
- Sets up and stores equipment, checks facility as needed.
- Secures doors, windows and surrounding areas when departing facility.
- Keeps in good order, activity and employee records, work schedules & assignments.
- Provides information on department activities to the public.
Working Conditions
- Conveys and exchanges verbal and written information.
- Walking, standing, sitting for prolonged periods of time.
- Walking on various surfaces including uneven ground that may be slippery.
- Handling objects weighting up to 50 pounds for short distances.
- Evenings, weekend and holiday work may be required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Age: 18
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience: One year paid work experience
- Licenses: Valid driver's license
