About the Position
The Clark County Department of Aviation is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Managing Director Aviation - Airport Information Systems position. This position directs the information technology function for Harry Reid International Airport and the General Aviation airports that involves forecasting, planning, and installation of advanced and diverse technologies, which must be supported, and run with near 100% reliability in a 24/7 environment.
NOTE: This is an NRS exempt status position and any rules or procedures governing the competitive process do not apply.
ABBREVIATED JOB SUMMARY:
This class provides division level management over a broad-based program of information technology to ensure that all systems are effectively utilized on a Department of Aviation wide basis. The incumbent must exercise independent judgment and discretion in determining the optional strategy for resource utilization and in providing support to programming and user staff. In addition to providing management oversight, the work involves such functions as developing and implementing policies and procedures and ensuring the overall effectiveness of the assigned area of responsibility. The incumbent must demonstrate a broad knowledge of computer software and hardware used in the airport and aviation industry. This class is distinguished from the Airport Chief IT Officer in that the latter assists the department head in all phases of department management and has a broader line management role over multiple functional areas.
Supervision Exercised and Received: This position reports to the Airport Chief IT Officer through the Airport Chief Financial Officer. The individual is responsible for the direction of a medium sized division with approximately 100 staff; nearly all technical/professional with some support staff.

Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Aviation Management, Computer Science, Business or Public Administration or a field related to the work and five years of full-time high-level experience working in a complex information technology environment, two years of which includes supervisory/management experience. Airport or other high volume 24/7 operating environment experience preferred. Master's Degree preferred. Equivalent combination of formal education and appropriate related experience may be considered.
Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.
Residency Requirement: Permanent employees must maintain a principal place of residency within the boundaries of Clark County and provide proof of compliance with Nevada motor vehicle registration and drivers' license laws within 90 days of employment.
Background Check: Employment with the Department of Aviation is contingent upon completion of an education/experience background investigation, a fingerprint-based criminal history record check processed by the FBI, and upon the ability to be granted a security badge as mandated by the Transportation Security Administration. Note: all prospective hires must present two original government issued ID's upon acceptance of job offer. Examples of acceptable ID's include a Passport, Driver's License or DMV issued ID, birth certificate, Social Security card, Voter Registration card, school issued ID with picture, etc.
Customs and Border Protection Security Seal Program: Employment with the Department of Aviation in this job title is contingent upon a five year employment and residency history record check and the ability to present original identity based documentation in order to meet the requirements for a Security Seal.
