Position Summary

As an academic medical center with a rich history of providing life-saving treatment in Southern Nevada, UMC serves as the anchor hospital of the Las Vegas Medical District, offering Nevada's highest level of care to promote successful medical outcomes for patients.

We are home to Nevada's ONLY Level I Trauma Center, Designated Pediatric Trauma Center, Burn Care Center, and Transplant Center. We are a Pathway Designated facility by ANCC, and we are on our journey to Magnet status.

Position Summary:
Provides responsible technical, standard, and specialized office support to a variety of human resources activities and functions.

Job Requirement

Education/Experience:
Equivalent to two (2) years of college-level course work in business administration, healthcare, or related field, AND two (2) years of office administrative experience in human resources or related field.

Additional and/or Preferred Position Requirements

PREFERENCES WILL BE GIVEN TO APPLICANTS WHO DOCUMENT THE FOLLOWING:

  • Recent experience (within the last year):
    • Working in a full-time position within Human Resources
    • Healthcare Human Resources experience a plus
    • Tracking healthcare industry compliance

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical Requirements

Knowledge of:
Basic human resources principles and practices; patient rights; department and hospital safety principles and practices; computer applications related to the work assigned; business arithmetic; record-keeping principles and practices; practices of reviewing payroll and personnel documents for completeness and accuracy; infection control policies and procedures; handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials; patient rights; department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures.

Skill in:
Performing technical, specialized, complex or difficult financial office support duties; reading and explaining rules, policies, and procedures; applying customer service techniques; using initiative and independent judgment within established procedural guidelines; processing documents and payments; maintaining accurate records and preparing accurate and timely reports; writing reports; using computers and related software applications; using office equipment such as copiers, phones, facsimiles and adding machines; communicating with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; exchanging or conveying information and receiving work direction; efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment, vision to read printed materials and a VDT screen, and hearing and speech to communicate effectively in person and over the telephone. Strength and agility to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a eligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
