The Position
Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
The current vacancy is located within Investigations and Recovery of the Division of Welfare and Supportive Services in Reno. This position plays a key role in the delivery of professional customer service to the entire staff of DWSS, customers and community partners. This position is responsible for a wide range of general administrative support functions including but not limited to scanning, filing, records maintenance, scheduling appointments, processing mail, and answering/screening/directing telephone calls. The ideal candidate will be a team player who is organized, can prioritize and handle multiple tasks, effectively manages time and produces quality work. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of clerical experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintaining records, answering telephones, and reviewing forms, documents and other written materials; OR six months of experience as an Administrative Aid in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.
